Private Healing Retreats
in Joshua Tree
Not to push harder — to restore the conditions that let the body reorganize itself.
Private, Transformational Experiences with Ramsay Mead
I don’t help people push harder or optimize themselves further. I restore the conditions that allow the body and nervous system to reorganize themselves naturally, quietly, deeply.

Camp Vortex Retreats is a private, practitioner-led retreat experience in Joshua Tree, California, created for individuals who feel outwardly successful yet inwardly disconnected. The work here is quiet, precise, and deeply personal, designed to support nervous system regulation, structural coherence, and embodied clarity.
Set on five secluded acres near Joshua Tree National Park, this is a curated space to slow down, recalibrate, and return to yourself without force, spectacle, or performance.

Three Ways to Work Together

I am an Associate Professor at a large institution and Executive Director of a federally sponsored project in California. My federal grant was terminated for not aligning with the current federal interests. I was left devastated and stressed from all the work we put in and the impact on my staff. From the moment I arrived, I had a phenomenal time at Camp Vortex during the Executive Performance Optimization. This trip was meant for me and my coordinator (who decided not to attend). However, that re-tailored the retreat for me, which was perfect. I was burned out and just getting through day to day with no room for self-care. Each day was thoughtfully designed to balance restorative practice with guided meditation, bodywork, breathwork, and nature. I identified where my overwhelm and anxiety/frustration in management came from and was able to restore my peace. Ramsey taught me new perspectives, exercises, practices, and coaching to take away and support caring for myself. Everyday the meals were amazing and I felt so taken care of. I only needed to focus on the work of restoration. Every meal was nourishing and intentional. Ramsey was so generous with his listening and coaching. He is deeply knowledgeable, genuinely compassionate, and understands neuroscience and performance psychology. The desert was grounding and enlightening. Just so many lessons. I have shared about my lessons learned and breakthroughs with so many people. The house, accommodations, studio, and grounds were beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and so peaceful. I left feeling clear headed, recharged, and equipped with self-care and anti-burnout tools to sustain balance and excellence in both my professional and personal life. Always staying near water, I have also decided to move to a more desert life-style. Overall, this retreat/workshop is not your regular corporate retreat. It was a true gem for me but for any executive or high performer who is ready to move beyond burnout and align with the passion of the work you are up to in your life. If you want a recalibration, invest in yourself and team with this workshop.Posted on Google Amanda WeissTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hi Ramsay and Sunny! I just wanted to extend my sincere gratitude to you for welcoming Matt and I into your beautiful home in Joshua Tree this past weekend. Your place is so magical, and we’re so appreciative you let us stay there. The little guidebook with recommendations was such a nice touch— we loved La Copine so much we ate there twice, and exploring downtown Yucca Valley was so fun! You’ve really created such a warm and inviting space. Thanks again for everything :)Posted on Google Krystal WestTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I enjoyed my relaxing stay at Mystic Sky Ranch, Camp Vortex! The decor of the ranch house and the incredible views of the mountains surrounding the property was absolutely stunning. I was searching for a getaway to experience stillness and that is exactly what I was able to do, relax and breathe. With the help of Ramsey, I was able to learn new breathing techniques as well as new wellness practices to include into my daily regimen. Hiking Joshua Tree and experiencing the surrounding energy is just what my body needed to feel revitalized. Looking forward to returning again.Posted on Google nina japaridzeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This property is fantastic! Tranquilla - that is the message of the property and the surrounding area of Landers. The property is tastefully and artistically designed to aid in its mission. Its location is great and reasonably convenient to Pappy and Harriets and a fast EV charging station. I also like the owners/operators will always find a solution to your schedule/issues.Posted on Google Elizabeth ChangTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I went into this retreat in a state of chaos and came out of it feeling more at peace. I had such a transformative experience with Ramsay and have been able to come out with a new perspective and connect to myself on a deeper level. It was such a wholesome retreat that gave me a deeper appreciation for life, nature and most of all myself.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Questions people ask before they book
Find the answers about retreats that people ask. Moreover if you dont find answer to what you have been looking for feel free to reach us.
Camp Vortex retreats are built for one to three people at a time founders, executives, athletes, and people who have gone a long stretch without stopping. Most guests arrive on very little sleep, carrying a season of work in their body. The format suits someone who wants to do this privately, with one practitioner, rather than in a room full of strangers.
A private burnout recovery retreat is several days of one-on-one work with a single practitioner, with no group and no schedule to keep up with. At Camp Vortex, days are built around sessions of somatic bodywork, breathwork, Qigong, fascia work, and sound healing, spaced out with sauna, hot tub, meals, and long open stretches on the property. The pacing is set by what your body is doing that day, not by a printed agenda.
A somatic retreat works through the body and the nervous system directly, in hands-on sessions led by a practitioner, rather than through amenities you book for yourself. There is no class schedule, no other guests, and no shared space. The work is nervous system regulation, fascia release, and lymphatic bodywork, delivered one-on-one across consecutive days so that each session builds on the one before it.
Camp Vortex runs at Mystic Sky Ranch, five private acres in Landers, California, in the high desert near Joshua Tree. The property has five bedrooms, three baths, a sauna, a hot tub, a cowboy tub, and a yoga studio. You will never share it with anyone you did not bring. One to three guests per retreat, and the ranch is yours for the length of your stay.
Four formats are published: the Reset Day at $950 with no overnight stay, the 2 Day Private Transformational Immersion at $3,200, the 3 Day Desert Reset at $4,200, and the 4 Day Coherent Body Reset at $6,000. All prices are per person. Check-in and check-out are both at 12:00 PM. Five and seven day immersions are available by inquiry, and any retreat can extend by a day and night for $1,300.
